Biffle HardHeads now available!

TULSA, Okla. (Aug. 16, 2010) – Larew’s new Biffle HardHead™ is now available, at tackle dealers and popular online tackle web sites, in all four sizes - 3/16 ounce with 3/0 hook, and 5/16, 7/16 and 11/16 ounce sizes, all with 4/0 hooks.

Biffle HardHead group shotThe HardHead, a football head weight with hook loosely attached, is the rig that Biffle has been refining and using for several months now for the new soft-plastic-cranking technique called “bottom buggin’. The HardHead rigged with a Larew Biffle Bug was responsible for every fish he weighed during his Bassmaster Elite Series victory on Ft. Gibson Lake (Okla.) in June. It also played a role in his win of the recent PAA Cherokee Lake (Tenn.)

The weight comes with all the features and advantages of a football head design, while the hook is attached to a one-piece wire form secured solidly inside the head, allowing it to move freely with the bait. Hooks are high quality and super sharp Owner wide gap J-hooks, featuring heavy-duty black nickel chrome wire. The wire’s tensile strength was a critical factor in Biffle’s selection of the hook because of how and where the rig is being fished, often on heavy line. Since the hook is a typical worm hook, the bait can be rigged Texas style, making it virtually weedless so it can come through all types of cover with minimal hang-ups.

The wire form is quality stainless steel that is shaped through a mechanical bending process made to exacting specifications. Its design is such that it won’t pull free from the head even when the angler is using heaving fishing line, including braid.

The head is cast in lead from a CNC machined aluminum mold for repeatable consistency in weight and balance. The manufacturing process is superior to the results that come from the more common silicone molds that many companies use. The weight is then powder coated with a durable antique-style black and copper color-finish that complements the most popular soft plastic hues.

Biffle HardHeads come two to a package. Look for them today at your favorite fishing tackle dealer.
